Since launching as Bike Friendly Charlottetown in 2019, the BFC team has been working together to transform Island communities through accessible, interconnected active transportation infrastructure and create a culture of cycling so that all people feel safe and empowered to choose cycling as a primary mode of transportation.
Shortly after our launch, we realized that the scope of what we do reaches beyond Charlottetown into the entire capital region—Stratford and Cornwall—and into communities across the whole Island. As our work is branching out, and as we are literally building bridges to connect communities, we’ve decided to branch out too:

In addition to the new name, BFC has officially incorporated as a non-profit co-operative organization in PEI. Formalizing our structure allows us to access funding and other resources that will help us grow and build on the work we’ve already begun: transforming Island communities through accessible, interconnected active transportation infrastructure and helping to create a culture of cycling so that all people feel safe and empowered to choose cycling as a primary mode of transportation.
